CHAPTER 49 - Chapter 49
Su Yuchen also glanced at the screen playing the news. When he heard Kristia’s question, his eyes showed envy at the right time. “My classmates used to say the same… If I had such a background, I wouldn’t stutter while talking to Senior Tia.”
“A spoiled heir?” Kristia teased, not really bothered by the name coincidence. After all, if Su Yuchen was indeed the crown prince of Chang’an, how could no one recognize him in such a vast university?
“A spoiled heir definitely wouldn’t blush while talking to girls.”
“Your blushing frequency has decreased while talking to me.”
Su Yuchen whispered, “Probably because there’s a vampire around.”
Phyllis sneered, “I even bought you a glass of lemon water… just for Tia’s sake.”
“I didn’t drink it.” Su Yuchen calmly stated. “Who knows if you added something to it?”
“Pah!” Phyllis sneered, “You think you, a weakling, are worth my effort? That’s a waste, you know?”
“Does that mean you added something for Tia?”
“Heh, if I wanted to add something, couldn’t I do it anytime? Why now?”
“Maybe because of tonight’s party, you wanted…”
Swipe!
Phyllis stood up abruptly. “You…”
Bang!
Her forceful movement caused the parfait on the table to fall to the ground and vanish.
“Tia, sorry, sorry.” Phyllis hurriedly apologized. “Didn’t stain your clothes, did it?”
Kristia shook her head. “You two arguing is quite entertaining. Carry on, I’ll go get a new one.”
“Senior Tia… let me get it for you!” Su Yuchen hurriedly stood up, looking a bit nervous, performing as if he thought talking to Phyllis would make Tia jealous.
“It’s just a few steps away.” Kristia stood up. “You two continue.”
“Okay.” Su Yuchen nodded. Phyllis immediately spoke, “Clean up the mess on the floor.”
“Whoever made it is responsible.” Su Yuchen couldn’t be bothered, taking out his phone and engrossing himself in it.
“I won’t do such things.” Phyllis’s gaze shifted, her blood-red eyes fixed on the man among a couple. Her voice was enchantingly commanding. “You, come over and clean this.”
The man obediently came over to clean up the fallen parfait under his girlfriend’s murderous gaze.
“Humans should be like this, you know?” Phyllis raised her chin slightly, proudly looking at Su Yuchen. “Especially feeble humans like you, should spend your life groveling at my feet.”
“I find it dirty… But, if Senior Tia says so, I suppose it’s fine.” Su Yuchen smiled shyly, glancing at Kristia.
Kristia smiled faintly and, nonchalantly, poured a few drops of blood into the sauce of the strawberry parfait.
“A mere human being so picky…” Phyllis sneered. “Do you think your rotting homeland can protect you?”
【The representatives attending the Mid-Autumn Banquet are leaving in order. They represent the majesty of the Xuanqing Empire. We wish them a pleasant Mid-Autumn… 】
“Look…” Phyllis smoothly picked up from the reporter’s topic on the screen. “For a noble’s banquet, all other flights at Sheng’an City International Airport have been delayed, and there’s widespread praise online.”
“With a history of 290 years, the empire claims prosperity and peace, but in reality? It’s just a dough that can be molded at will.” Phyllis ridiculed.
“The imperial family, the cabinet, nobles, and prominent families… Apart from these ruling class individuals, everyone else should only be considered third-rate citizens.”
She lifted her legs, leaning closer to Su Yuchen. “Leaving other things aside, just about the non-humans being able to run rampant in your homeland, what qualifications does the so-called Xuanqing Empire have to claim sovereignty?”
“The ruling power of the imperial family doesn’t radiate to every corner as it used to. I heard many princes and prominent families have long been rebellious, even withholding taxes paid to the national treasury… Junior, when do you think your homeland will collapse?”
Su Yuchen smiled noncommittally. “It might fall into chaos but won’t completely collapse.”
“The pro-royalty Chang’an King?” Phyllis sneered. “He indeed has some ability, but… a single tree can’t hold up a whole forest. Moreover, with your mediocre emperor, it’s just a matter of time before the imperial reign crumbles.”
“To me, the Chang’an King, holding hundreds of thousands of troops and being respected by the people in the North, is simply foolish. With such potential, he might as well start anew… a foolish loyalist!”
“If you know so much, you become the emperor.” Su Yuchen chuckled. “Who doesn’t know how to speak critically?”
“Sooner or later.” Phyllis leaned back in her chair. “That vast land, who wouldn’t fancy it?”
She glanced sharply at Su Yuchen, showing two sharp fangs. “You, better pray you keep Tia’s love forever and pray you stay in this city, otherwise, your fate might be quite miserable back in that land.”
“Hopefully, you’ll still be around then, Phyllis.” Su Yuchen smiled.
“Even if your grandson dies, this lady will still retain her looks!” Phyllis sneered.
“Old lady.”
“Short-lived ghost!”
“Are you two having fun chatting?” Kristia returned and sat down. “Junior Yuchen, want to try some?”
“I’ll try!” Phyllis’s smile brightened. “Tia, feed me~”
“Go buy it yourself,” Kristia dismissed her, and Su Yuchen shook his head. “Senior Tia, you have it.”
He could clearly see she added blood inside. What if there was some ‘slave’ magic hidden in it?
“Fine.” Kristia didn’t insist. She scooped a spoonful and savored it, her eyes narrowing with enjoyment. “What were you guys just talking about?”
“Talking about the party tonight.” Phyllis glanced at the hint of strawberry sauce on Kristia’s lips, licked her own red lips, and said, “Teaching him some etiquette so that Tia doesn’t feel embarrassed tonight.”
“It’s not that formal,” Kristia rolled her eyes at her. “Just a regular party.”
“It should have a sense of ceremony.” Phyllis stared at her. “It only happens once a year, and it’s Tia’s first time attending. Of course, we need to prepare well to leave a lasting impression.”
“I’m not interested.” Kristia looked at Su Yuchen and smiled. “If it wasn’t for Junior Yuchen, I wouldn’t even go.”
“Sure, sure,” Phyllis rolled her eyes. “Make sure to take good care of him and don’t let him be bullied into leave early.”
