CHAPTER 46 - Chapter 46
“As expected, Junior brother, you really haven’t had a girlfriend before.” On the sidewalk, Kristia whispered to Su Yuchen.
“Yeah!” Su Yuchen, not ‘understanding’ Kristia’s meaning, nodded. “This is my first time out with a girl.”
“Oh? So, Junior Yuchen, haven’t you gone out with your sister before?”
“Huh?” Su Yuchen was momentarily stunned. “This…”
“Just kidding~” Kristia leaned closer to him. “Let me tell you a little secret, listen carefully. When you’re out with a girl, walking on the outer side of the sidewalk is a nice gesture from a guy.”
“Sorry!” Apologizing hastily, Su Yuchen hurried to Kristia’s other side—whenever he was out with his sister, mother, or even Xia Yushuang, they would walk on the outer side, leaving him on the inner side. He naturally noticed this detail, but the ‘innocent junior’ persona didn’t understand such nuances unless they were explicitly stated.
This way, Kristia would be happy to see his progress, and he would be delighted to have learned these finer points of interacting with women—a win-win situation.
“You don’t need to apologize for that.” Kristia said softly. “Junior Yuchen, your reaction was a bit exaggerated.”
“I-I really don’t know these things.”
“It’s okay junior, you’re smart; you’ll learn quickly.”
Glancing at her, Su Yuchen gathered his courage and asked, “S-Senior Tia, can I help you carry your bag?”
“I knew you’d learn quickly.” Kristia praised. “But I can handle the bag; it’s not heavy.”
‘Today’s Mid-Autumn Festival, just in case, mom gave me a small bottle of blood. Can’t let him find out.’
“O-Okay.” Smelling the faint fragrance emanating from Kristia, Su Yuchen asked, “Senior Tia, where are we going to buy clothes?”
“I already found a shop yesterday; we’re going there. Follow me.” Kristia chuckled. “But the prices might be a bit high.”
Pausing for a moment, she continued, “However, to rent such a big house outside, Junior Yuchen, you shouldn’t be short on money, right?”
“I didn’t rent it; I bought the house.” Su Yuchen’s tone carried a hint of pride. Owning a property in Sky City was indeed a significant achievement.
A glint of amusement shone in Kristia’s eyes. “Where did you buy the house?”
“In the Ding Sheng community.”
“Junior Yuchen, your family background seems quite good. The property prices in that area of Sky City aren’t cheap.”
“It’s, it’s alright.” Su Yuchen cast a slightly proud glance at Kristia, excited when he noticed her surprise.
Family background should be a significant bonus, right?
A playful glint flashed in Kristia’s eyes; Su Yuchen’s family background was good, but his personality around women was very introverted… It was too easy to figure out his thoughts.
Later, she’d investigate the funds he used to buy the house. Maybe she’d uncover his family background.
His strength was secondary; it was more about seeing what kind of family environment allowed him to have such delicious blood.
Could it be that his ancestors were some kind of pure bloodline lineage?
“Your family background can definitely push you to greater heights. So, Junior Yuchen, work harder in college, study diligently, don’t indulge yourself like most people do, alright?”
“Okay, okay.” Su Yuchen nodded, his eyes showing a hint of disappointment. She didn’t continue the ‘house’ topic, so he couldn’t keep pretending to be sophisticated.
Kristia glanced at him; the innocent junior’s thoughts were just too easy to read. She had to maintain this semi-detached attitude, not go along with everything… disappointment and hope alternating would make her occupy a more significant place in his heart.
“The shop I have in mind is at the Century Shopping Mall ahead, let’s hurry.”
“Okay.”
Su Yuchen caught up with Kristia’s pace, observing her since they met.
Her eyes behind the lenses hadn’t turned red; the flash of her white teeth when speaking was normal, and her body didn’t exhibit the restlessness that characterized Phyllis. Therefore, Kristia didn’t hail from one of the ancient bloodline families, born from the River of Blood.
In modern times, only the three emerging major families belonged to the acquired bloodlines. Their craving for blood wasn’t as intense as the ancient families’. Although they weren’t born from the River of Blood, they gained it’s recognition and obtained True Ancestor bloodlines. Due to them, the ten major bloodline families became the current thirteen.
Today being the Mid-Autumn Festival, though not yet night, the blood thirst of the vampires wouldn’t diminish due to daytime. In fact, they required more blood today to suppress their restlessness.
Yet, Kristia didn’t display such signs, indicating her identity was probably from these contemporary three major clans.
‘Newmoon, Nightfall, Eternal Darkness… which clan is she from?’
Glancing at Kristia, who also remained silent and lost in thought, Su Yuchen lowered his head. Buying clothes today was a facade; probing each other’s backgrounds was the real intent.
That’s why love… especially with a non-human senior sister, was an extremely challenging affair.
“Senior Tia, aren’t you going home for the Mid-Autumn Festival?” Su Yuchen deliberately asked.
“Junior Yuchen, why do you ask such a silly question?” Kristia chuckled at him. “Unlike the people of Eastern region, we Westerners don’t celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.”
“I-I was too nervous.” Su Yuchen scratched his head.
“Although we don’t celebrate, I’ve seen quite a few Eastern expats celebrating Mid-Autumn since I was young, so I do understand some customs of the festival.”
“Does Senior Tia’s homeland have many Eastern expats?”
“Just more in the town I live in, Keltz. Many expats from the Xuanqing Empire reside there.”
“I’ve never been abroad, so I don’t know much. That’s interesting.”
As Su Yuchen spoke, his thoughts raced. Whether human or non-human, fabricated hometowns under a hidden identity wouldn’t deviate too far from their actual home. Local accents, subconscious choices, and the most familiar place outside the hometown… these three factors generally constituted a fabricated hometown.
So…
‘Keltz town is located southwest of the Hegdas State in the Sacred Bright Empire, bordering the north of the Night Empire. The northern region of the Night Empire houses the Newmoon and Nightfall clans, she’s probably from one of these two clans.’
