CHAPTER 45 - Chapter 45

“Brother, you’re not allowed to attend those decadent parties!”

“???”

Facing Su Yuxi’s anxious command, Su Yuchen rubbed his forehead speechlessly. “Yuxi, what’s going on in your mind every day?”

“It’s just a regular freshman party.”

“Is that so?” Su Yuxi looked suspiciously at him. “Who’s hosting the party?”

“Senior students,” Su Yuchen explained. “You know the ins and outs of Sky University; these kinds of parties are purpose-driven to recruit and solidify alliances. There won’t be any undesirable occurrences.”

He didn’t mention that it was a party hosted by Westerners; after all, mentioning openness might lead his sister to overthink. Even if it’s entirely normal, she might worry and forbid him from attending.

The Mid-Autumn Banquet hosted by the Imperial family was significant for the following night, and he couldn’t let her be distracted with other matters.

“Hmm. Who told brother to call it a ‘party’? Isn’t ‘formal event’ a better description?” Relieved, Su Yuxi lay back down on her pillow. “Will Sister Yushuang attend?”

‘If that fox spirit attends, there’s no need to worry; she’ll definitely restrict brother’s movements.’

“She’s gone home.” Pausing, Su Yuchen swiftly continued before Su Yuxi could get anxious again, “It’s a Magic Engineering Department event, with so many guys. How could anything inappropriate happen? Your brother’s preferences are entirely normal.”

Su Yuxi thought about it; indeed, in the Magic Engineering Department, the yang was strong and the yin was weak, and if something indescribable did happen, then her brother would leave immediately.

So, her pretty face bloomed with a smile again. “Then, brother, go early and come back early.”

“Sure.” Su Yuchen teased, “If I stay too long, what if the party venue collapses?”

Hearing this, Su Yuxi felt even happier. Her brother’s ‘misfortune’ could indeed come in handy at times like this!

“Brother’s right… Ahh~” Su Yuxi yawned, and Su Yuchen immediately said, “You’ve handled a lot of things today, right? Yuxi, you’re getting better and better.”

“Keep up the energy; you’re the star of tomorrow night’s event. Rest early.”

This is the art of speech—if he directly told her to sleep, she’d probably say something like, “Are you annoyed with me?” and he’d have to coax her again. But by praising her and suggesting rest, she wouldn’t resist.

Sure enough—

“Mm-hmm!” Su Yuxi nodded. “Brother, you sleep early too~”

“Mm, goodnight.”

“Goodnight, brother~”

After ending the video call, Su Yuchen sighed.

Leaning back on the couch, he cautiously stretched out his legs. His slightly damp slippers slid forward, and his toe hit the coffee table’s leg.

This ‘misfortune’ wasn’t something he could control subjectively… Sure, he could prevent his toe from hitting it in time, but why bother?

As long as it wasn’t his little toe.

“Time to sleep.”

Holding his phone, he stood up. It was almost midnight.

“Is there anything left to do?”

After a moment of thought, Su Yuchen remembered something and sent a message to Xia Yushuang.

[My sister is the best]: Happy Mid-Autumn Festival.

[Yushuang]: Happy Mid-Autumn Festival.

Seeing the prompt reply, Su Yuchen smiled. Now he could sleep peacefully.

At six in the morning, once again woken up by a figurine falling on him, Su Yuchen didn’t go back to sleep. He put the figurine back in its place, got up, washed up, picked an outfit, and left the house.

The Lilac Plaza was a bit far from where he lived. Setting off at half-past six without taking the bus was just right.

If it weren’t for knowing that being with Senior Tia could reduce the frequency of ‘misfortune,’ he wouldn’t have stepped out on a day meant for rest. After all, he felt somewhat guilty making innocent people around him suffer ‘misfortunes’ because of him.

At twenty past eight, Su Yuchen arrived at the east entrance of Lilac Plaza. It was the Mid-Autumn holiday, early in the morning, so the square wasn’t crowded.

Not seeing Tia Yufei’s figure, Su Yuchen found a resting chair, inserted his hands into the pockets of his baseball jacket, tilted his head back, and looked at the clear sky.

The morning temperature today wasn’t as high as before, so it probably wouldn’t be hot.

‘The heavens are definitely targeting me.’

He knew shopping wouldn’t be like military training where standing outside meant enduring the whole day. So, the heavens wouldn’t ‘cook him with heat’ but maybe there will be other ‘misfortunes’.

However, it didn’t matter; today, he had a vampire to ‘shield’ him from misfortune.

“Junior Yuchen, you’re very punctual.”

Hearing the familiar voice, Su Yuchen immediately switched into his ‘innocent junior’ persona, stood up with a ‘swoosh,’ and turned to face Kristia. “Senior T-Tia, g-good morning.”

Her golden hair was simply tied in a ponytail, a light yellow knitted cardigan over a white hoodie complemented her fair skin, black wide-leg pants paired with small white shoes, exuding a stylish, lazy, and gentle vibe.

Her figure was indeed very good; even the light yellow knit cardigan couldn’t conceal her petite waist…

“S-Senior Tia, you look really pretty.”

“Do I?” Kristia glanced at herself, a teasing smile playing on her lips. “I was worried I looked a bit dull.”

Last night, she pondered whether to wear a skirt or pants. After much consideration, she decided on this outfit. She knew how attractive she looked in a skirt, which would definitely keep the innocent junior’s eyes glued to her. But it wasn’t necessary.

Because she wanted to give Su Yuchen a sense of mystery, upgrading her style from ordinary to increasingly beautiful, always keeping him captivated and under the illusion that his influence was improving her fashion sense. Then… he would become more and more entrenched, unable to extricate himself!

“No, not at all!” Su Yuchen quickly responded. “Senior Tia, you look great in anything.”

“I believe Junior Yuchen wouldn’t lie.” Kristia smiled and adjusted her glasses, complimenting him too, “Your fashion sense surprised me; it’s very stylish.”

Su Yuchen, feeling embarrassed, lowered his head. “I rarely buy clothes myself; it’s usually my sister who helps me.”

“Junior Yuchen is becoming less and less stuttery.” Kristia praised him first and then asked, “Your sister must admire you a lot, right? Like you a lot?”

“How did you know, Senior Tia?”

“Because of your username.” Kristia smiled subtly. “It must have been given to you by your sister, right?”

“Senior Tia, you’re really smart.”

“I’m a top student, you know.” Kristia lifted her chin. “Let’s go, let’s go buy some clothes.”

“Yeah.”
