CHAPTER 42 - Chapter 42
“Only one more hour, then we get a day off tomorrow.”
During the break, sitting on the lawn, Song Xinghui lay back, exhausted. “Man, why aren’t you tanned?”
“Sunscreen.”
“Isn’t that something only girls use?” Song Xinghui widened his eyes. “You’re quite meticulous.”
“Given by Senior Tia.”
“Damn, and you say you’re not close?” Song Xinghui looked at him enviously. “Ordinary relations don’t get this intimate.”
Su Yuchen wiped the sweat off his forehead with a tissue. Song Xinghui hurriedly asked, “Give me one too. Normal guys don’t carry tissues, you know?”
“Given by senior.”
“Stop it… envy!”
Su Yuchen shrugged. Senior Tia provided the sunscreen while Sister Yushuang asked him to carry tissues.
As for why Xia Yushuang didn’t ask him to apply sunscreen… she spread rumors about disliking ‘women,’ wishing to avoid too much female attention.
However, Tia Yufei’s thoughtful gesture was for a completely opposite reason – to show off his blood, make it seem delicious after taking him down in the future, making other vampires envious and jealous.
Women’s subtle thoughts, he understood them clearly.
“Senior Tia hasn’t brought you milk tea these days. I thought you weren’t that close…” Song Xinghui paused. “Didn’t expect you’re so intimate when I’m not around. Brother, are you really not dating?”
“No.”
“Such a good senior, don’t you like her?”
“I’m not into ‘women.'”
“Senior Tia is beautiful, smart, influential in school… Such good qualities and you’re still reluctant?” Song Xinghui sighed. “You don’t appreciate your blessings. What’s there to like about beast girls… Oh, right! You can make Senior Tia a beast girl; then you won’t consider her human, right?”
“Why so much talk? Aren’t you thirsty?”
“I’m looking out for you. I feel someday Senior Tia will bring you back on track. With such a senior, I doubt you can resist.”
“Who knows what the future holds?”
Song Xinghui suddenly sat up, grinning. “Saying that means your liking for non-humans is wavering. Looks like Senior Tia is close to breaking your psychological defenses.”
“So, you’re quite an expert in relationships,” Su Yuchen glanced at him. “Why not use that in running for class president?”
“What’s that got to do with running for class president?”
“Think about it. If Yae Mitsuha became your girlfriend, wouldn’t you automatically become the class president?”
“Bang!”
Song Xinghui clapped his knee hard. “Great idea! Why didn’t I think of that?”
“In the Sun and Moon country, men have high status, and women are traditional. If she becomes my girlfriend… Wow, that’s a great idea, I must try it!”
Song Xinghui’s eyes gleamed. With about twenty days left until military training ended, if this method worked, he might actually become class president!
“Bro, how did you make Senior Tia so good to you? Teach me?”
“I won’t.” Su Yuchen replied casually. “Because I’m passive.”
“I got it!” Song Xinghui suddenly realized. “Yae is our age, and from the Sun and Moon Country, so I need to be proactive! Show my charm and strength, make her take notice!”
“Tonight will mark my first attempt!”
…
Afternoon military training ended, ushering in the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. Su Yuchen, after the dismissal, didn’t immediately head home but planned to have dinner first.
Xia Yusuang had taken a flight back home in the afternoon, and Su Yuchen didn’t want to go home to cook and wash dishes—too risky.
As he arrived at the canteen and sat down after getting his meal, Tia’s roommate, Phyllis, took a seat opposite him. “Junior Yuchen, what a coincidence.”
Su Yuchen glanced at her. Her already blood-red eyes seemed especially sinister today, almost like they were bleeding. Moreover, her tone carried a kind of subtle but enticing allure—akin to an animal’s mating season.
Though she was speaking to him, her gaze lingered on the freshmen who had just finished their meal after the military training, their vibrant blood making her intensely eager.
A quick scan around the canteen revealed an unusually high number of vampires today.
This was… a way to satisfy one’s thirst.
However, despite the high numbers, others weren’t worried as there were many members of the Disciplinary Committee wearing red armbands.
“Any particular reason for looking for me, senior?” Su Yuchen inquired.
Phyllis took a deep sip from the blood bag; the blood didn’t stain her teeth as it was directly absorbed.
“I really don’t get how Tia could fancy such a weak boy like you,” Phyllis tutted. “You’re the weakest 18-year-old male I’ve encountered, a weakling.”
Su Yuchen smiled noncommittally. Emotions among the vampires during a full moon night could be unstable. Besides, whether he was weak or not wasn’t something she needed to know—Tia Yufei knowing about it is enough.
“Is there something else?” Su Yuchen tapped the table. “The strong scent of blood is making it hard for me to eat.”
“Physically weak but bold in spirit,” Phyllis grinned. The teeth on both sides of her incisors were a bit sharper.
“Young freshman, there’s a gathering for new students from the Xuanqing Empire tomorrow. I’m here to inform you, if you dare not to come to our side… even Tia can’t protect you. I’m serious!”
“Why not say it in front of Senior Tia?” Su Yuchen took a bite of chicken. “Is it because you can’t win? Senior Phyllis, you noble bloodline vampires can’t fight humans?”
“Trying to provoke me?” Phyllis narrowed her eyes. This kid had completely different attitudes toward herself and Tia… the difference between a lapdog and a watchdog.
“Would you dare to bite me?” Su Yuchen’s tone was brazen, his gaze challenging. “I’m right in front of you, senior. Do you have the guts?”
Phyllis stared deeply at Su Yuchen. “Freshman, better eat something nourishing for your kidneys before coming to the party tomorrow. I’m afraid you won’t last the night.”
After her words, she got up and left.
Ultimately, Sky University belonged to humans, and if Tia’s blood wasn’t obtained yet… If he didn’t come tomorrow, how would the meticulously prepared party proceed?
Retracting his gaze, Su Yuchen finished his dinner slowly—no exploding bulbs or collapsing tables. Being threatened by a vampire wasn’t exactly an unfortunate event.
Exiting the canteen, the school’s streetlights were already on. Su Yuchen took a few steps and stopped, looking at a figure approaching with a bruised and swollen face, covering his face with his arm. “Song Xinghui?”
“Huh?” Song Xinghui looked up and saw Su Yuchen, who was surprised to see him with a bruised face.
“How did you turn into a pig-head boy?”
