CHAPTER 41 - Chapter 41
“Party, huh…”
On the way home at night, Su Yuchen recalled Phyllis’ invitation at noon, unsure if this party was proper.
The customs of foreigners are more open, it’s also during the Mid-Autumn Festival, and being a vampire’s invitation, would the thirst for blood make the party ‘exhilarating’?
He knew well that despite the vampire’s claim to nobility and elegant behavior, on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the thirst for blood would discard all elegance, transforming them into slaves of desire — provided they hadn’t fed adequately beforehand.
Judging from the blood bags provided by Sky University, they wouldn’t starve, but they wouldn’t be fully sated either.
So, at the Mid-Autumn party… without the premise of killing for fresh blood, only one desire would dominate them.
Transforming the thirst for blood into a desire for pleasure would turn even a serious party into something less than proper…
“How could such a thing happen…” Su Yuchen muttered under his breath, dodging a flying tree branch.
A party involving vampires would surely require prior registration and reporting. Post-event, there would be checks on the attendees to prevent the aforementioned situation.
“Laughing so obscenely, Sausage Junior, were you recalling the action movie you watched last night?”
“My mouth isn’t swollen, right?” Su Yuchen quickened his pace towards Xia Yushuang. “I guess you weren’t waiting for me.”
“Feeling smart?” As Xia Yushuang spoke, she moved to Su Yuchen’s left side, allowing him to walk on the inner side of the sidewalk.
Su Yuchen smiled, turning to look at her ice-blue hair gently fluttering in the evening breeze. “Why are you coming back only now?”
“It’s hard to secure a recommended quota. So, leisure time studying is a must…” Xia Yushuang paused and sighed lightly. “I’m such an idiot. Knowing that you, an undergraduate not pursuing postgraduate studies, won’t understand, yet I still said it… I’m too kind, habitually trying to educate my limited-level junior.”
“Senior Sister,” Su Yuchen said carefully. “Using the word ‘study’ could have answered my question, right?”
Xia Yushuang turned her head, locking her ice-blue eyes onto him. “Is the charm of language displayed through brevity and feebleness? Do you need me, your senior, to teach you the art of speaking?”
“No need for any teaching.” Su Yuchen playfully bantered with her. “But the charm of things can still be displayed through brevity.”
“Such as?”
“Like…” Su Yuchen appraised Xia Yushuang from bottom to top. “Silky legs, truly charming.”
His tone was serious. “In just four words, it not only praises the elegance of your legs and the quality of your stockings but also praises the captivating beauty resulting from their combination.”
“You see, without mentioning the brand or specific qualities of the stockings, all compliments are encapsulated in just four words.”
“So, even with brevity, language’s charm can be expressed.”
“I have to give you credit for one thing,” Xia Yushuang sighed lightly. “Evading the main point while focusing on frivolous matters, quite impressive.”
“Am I wrong?”
“Your ‘silky legs, truly charming’ is merely the result of your secretion of male hormones… You can only think of the sensuality within those four words.” Xia Yushuang sneered. “You weren’t praising the legs at all, but rather extolling the eyes that saw the legs.”
“How do you know I wasn’t praising genuinely?” Su Yuchen countered. “It’s said, ‘Judge actions, not intentions.’ Judge intentions… all men are perverts!”
“Then tell me, how beautiful is ‘silky legs, truly charming’?” Xia Yushuang halted, turning to look directly into his eyes. “The kind of beauty you want to touch, or the kind you want to be stepped on by?”
“Don’t get me wrong, the beauty I praised refers to the leg shape, not any fetishes,” Su Yuchen also halted, speaking seriously.
“Is that so?”
“Yes…”
Before the words had fully escaped, a slight rustling sound caused Su Yuchen to instinctively step back, his back pressing against a tree by the roadside.
Thud~
Amidst the somewhat muffled sound, maple leaves floated down from above, obscuring the view.
“Wanna praise some more?”
Faced with Xia Yushuang’s question, Su Yuchen swallowed nervously. He knew about pressing against a wall, but using legs to do so was a first.
Her feet, in low-heeled leather shoes matching her school uniform, were now resting on the tree trunk slightly above shoulder level. His gaze followed the foot wrapped in skin-colored stockings, down to the slender and smooth calf, taut and straight.
Through the thin skin-colored stockings, there were no visible scars on her knees, the full thighs reflected a shimmering light under the street lamp.
The navy blue checkered school skirt almost reached the roots of her thighs, exuding a hazy sense of beauty that was both revealed and concealed.
Her legs were really long… and flexible.
A drifting maple leaf landed gently on her knee, spun lightly, then slid along the smooth stockings toward the thigh. Su Yuchen’s gaze followed the continuous descent of the maple leaf, as if the leaf was the focal point of his attention.
The leaf didn’t even touch the edge of the skirt before it fell to the ground because Xia Yushuang lowered her right leg from the wall.
As the skirt returned to the thigh, Xia Yushuang nonchalantly patted her skirt. “Isn’t it beautiful?”
“Beautiful,” Su Yuchen’s gaze seemed somewhat distracted. When she just let her leg down, the floating skirt revealed more than just the skin-colored stockings.
“Can brevity express the charm of such things?”
“I may have been shallow,” Su Yuchen obediently responded – for the sake of enjoying the view.
“I’m smarter than you, so listen to me.”
Su Yuchen glanced at her but didn’t respond… She wants to slyly manipulate me?
‘I’ll not fall for this ‘listen to me’ trick.’
“Tsk.”
Xia Yushuang turned and walked away again. “It’s hot during the day, and quite cold at night, all thanks to you.”
“As autumn approaches, it’s time for tights, not stockings,” Su Yuchen chuckled. Her change of topic seemed a bit forced, appearing like a snow maiden while harboring a shy persona inside.
“I’ll consider adopting this suggestion,” Xia Yushuang tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Are you going home for the Mid-Autumn Festival?”
“No.”
Xia Yushuang nodded lightly and didn’t say anything further.
“Are you going?”
“Yeah.”
“By the way, where is your family living now?” Su Yuchen curiously asked, “Have you moved house after that?”
Xia Yushuang eyed him warily, “Are you trying to sneak in, criminal junior?”
“Investigators do that.” Su Yuchen shrugged, dismissing the thought of continuing to pry.
Xia Yushuang clearly didn’t want to tell him yet.
