CHAPTER 39 - Chapter 39

“Junior Yuchen, over here!”

Seeing Phyllis wave and call out, Kristia was about to stop her but then thought, isn’t this a perfect chance to make contact?

It was well-known that Phyllis was a vampire, not a female ‘human’. The rumored Su Yuchen didn’t fancy women, so even if he came over, others wouldn’t associate it with herself.

Thus, she let Phyllis call Su Yuchen over.

She believed he would definitely come… as long as he saw her here.

After all, a virgin junior must have developed some ‘liking’ feelings after being flirted with by her.

As expected, Su Yuchen walked over, a shy smile on his face. “Senior Tia.”

“What a coincidence.” Kristia adjusted her glasses, raising her head. “You’re having lunch here today too?”

Su Yuchen displayed an even more embarrassed smile. Kristia understood the meaning behind his smile — he anticipated an encounter with her.

At this rate, soon enough, his body and mind would be consumed by thoughts of her. Then, she would slightly increase the distance, making him see but not touch, unable to leave her side.

“Go ahead and get your food.” Kristia whispered softly, “Otherwise, if you wait too long in line, I’ll have finished everything.”

As Su Yuchen hurried to get his food, Phyllis looked at Kristia with a smiling face, “I’ve never seen you speak so gently to any man before. It seems the junior has already fallen into your hands.”

“Indeed.” Phyllis leaned back in her chair. “Just entered university, so pure, how could he resist the gentle charms of a beautiful lady?”

“Tell me, with so many freshmen, why did you pick him?”

“You seemed weak and listless just now. Why so talkative?” Kristia glanced at her. “With this energy, you’d better pick a few more ‘blood bank’ boyfriends from these camouflage-clad students.”

“He’s the one you’re interested in. After all my longing for you, he easily receives your tenderness, it’s disheartening.” Phyllis adjusted her light gray hair, her tone somewhat resentful.

“Do you like me being gentle to you?” Kristia squinted, using her chopsticks to draw circles on Phyllis’s face.

Remembering the recent incident where she was stabbed in her mouth with chopsticks, Phyllis licked her lips. “I don’t.”

“At least as a self-proclaimed noble bloodline, can’t you maintain some dignity in front of me?”

“Just for you.” Phyllis blinked. “Because in my heart, you’re special.”

“Ha, just because you haven’t tasted my blood. People always desire what they can’t have.”

“You’ve noticed that.” Phyllis shrugged. “But speaking of which, you’d better pick a different junior.”

“Hmm?”

“I can’t sense a strong scent of fresh blood from him…” Phyllis leaned forward slightly. “Which means, he’s weak. Besides, you’re so famous and capable, so he’s even less suitable for you. You won’t find any pleasure in him.”

‘If even you could’ve sensed his blood, won’t all the vampires in the school swarm around him? Thank goodness I foresaw this and used magic to mask his scent.’

‘How could I let you all taint my ‘toy’?’

Kristia remained composed. “Does the vampire system you follow have scientific evidence?”

“Wow! Tia, have you gone silly? In a world like this, you’re talking science to me?”

“Humanity doesn’t just rely on magic,” Kristia said casually.

“Tch.” Phyllis rolled her eyes. Being from an ancient vampire family, she always looked down on so-called human science.

In front of powerful magic, what good was science!

“Anyway, from what I’ve seen, he’s not suitable.”

“Senior Tia!” Su Yuchen returned with his meal, and Phyllis immediately smiled mischievously. “Junior Yuchen, you’re quick, huh?”

“I picked a less crowded window.” Su Yuchen didn’t forget his acting; he spoke to the non-human lady without stuttering.

“Eager to see Senior Tia?” Phyllis teased. “I heard you don’t fancy humans. Do you think I’m pretty?”

Su Yuchen glanced at her. “That’s a rumor.”

“Who believes that?” Phyllis crossed her legs clad in black stockings, showing off their graceful curves. “Gossip spreads like wildfire, but debunking it takes a lifetime. How many would believe your claim?”

Su Yuchen looked at her stockings and then sat next to Kristia. “I don’t need them to believe. And… I don’t have any fondness for vampires.”

“Have you been bitten?” Phyllis’s eyes sparkled. Was this the reason for his weakness? If so, would it be okay to taste his blood for Tia’s sake?

Using his blood to reach Tia wouldn’t be a bad idea.

“No,” Su Yuchen finished speaking and then ignored her. His gaze unconsciously shifted towards Kristia, leaving Phyllis surprised at his shy and yearning expression.

Was this junior having a split personality? Such a big contrast between his two sides!

Was this the power of love?

“The food at the less crowded window isn’t great. Want some of mine?” Kristia softly said, ignoring his earlier “I don’t have any fondness for vampires” statement.

“No, no need,” Su Yuchen hastily replied, his face turning red. “Senior Tia is busy with her studies and shouldn’t go hungry. I… I’m not picky about food; as long as I’m full.”

“During military training, what if you get a stomach ache? If your training results are unsatisfactory, it could affect your credits.” Kristia swapped her lunch with his. “Listen to Senior’s advice, alright?”

Su Yuchen stared at Kristia blankly… even though he was aware her kindness towards him was not-so-pure, gentleness easily found its way into his heart.

“Thank you, Senior Tia,” he whispered, expressing genuine gratitude to her for the first time.

“You’re too polite, Junior Yuchen.” Kristia smiled slightly. “Yesterday, weren’t you protecting me under the broken light tube? You looked quite brave.”

Su Yuchen scratched his head. She really was skilled… it was fortunate that he knew her true identity and her intentions towards him, or he wouldn’t resist her gentle approach.

“Ew.” Phyllis looked at them with disdain. “I really don’t understand human emotions; it gives me goosebumps.”

“We aren’t the same species, need you to understand?” Kristia scoffed.

“You’re really good to him,” Phyllis cut in, her blood-red eyes shifted to Su Yuchen. “Mid-Autumn Festival is coming. Are you going home?”

“No, I’m not.”

“That’s great. During Mid-Autumn Festival, your military training will have a day off. How about joining our international students’ new semester party?” Phyllis smiled at him. “If you come, Tia will definitely be there… you won’t refuse, right?”
