CHAPTER 30 - Chapter 30
It was 11:20, just ten minutes away from the end of military training. Kristia walked gracefully towards the field, holding a parasol to shield herself from the sun. Her knee-length dress of pale purple swayed, showcasing flawless legs like polished jade.
There were quite a few students near the entrance of the field, some waiting for their younger boyfriends or girlfriends, while others were mostly scouting for companionship. Seniors scouting juniors, and juniors being sought after by seniors—there were also some hybrids scouting for mates during their breeding season.
Kristia refrained from commenting on the behavior of these creatures since most of it was consensual. Besides, her intentions for being here weren’t pure either.
Standing under the shade of a tree near the playground gate, Kristia squinted her eyes and took a deep breath—a dense fragrance only she could smell.
‘If he were a pillow, I’d sleep well every night.’
It wouldn’t be too much to ask him to act as a pillow in the capacity of a ‘boyfriend’.
It was all because of this human, making her thoughts revolve around the scent of his sweat from earlier in the day. That led to doing nothing once back home but constantly reminiscing about the intoxicating scent of blood.
‘I wonder if he understood the meaning of the first cup of autumn milk tea?’
Thinking about it, she regretted not extending her tongue to lick him when she blew air into his ear in the morning…
‘No, no, can’t think in such a deviant way.’
But he smelled so good…
Not only that, the feeling of satiation after tasting him could last for a long time.
In any case, he must become her exclusive blood bank.
As her gaze shifted, her delicate eyebrows furrowed slightly. Kristia looked towards the vampire with golden hair and red eyes scanning around not far away.
“Virginia, what are you doing here?” She asked cautiously.
Virginia, looking at Kristia, their teacher’s favorite, and replied coldly, “Human, don’t pry into my affairs.”
Withdrawing her gaze, Virginia’s crimson eyes carried a hint of confusion. The strong scent of fresh blood that was faintly detected here was overpowered by the sweaty stench of human males.
Her expression turned a bit gloomy. If she were back home, she would have eliminated humans one by one to find the source of the scent.
“Your temper is still so volatile,” Kristia chuckled softly, realizing she needed to reinforce the magic she had on Su Yuchen later.
Virginia, unable to smell the scent, let out a cold snort and turned away from the place reeking of human male sweat.
Watching her leave, Kristia mumbled, “This lady’s reservations won’t be tainted by you all.”
“Senior Tia, so you’re not human after all.”
The sudden voice startled Kristia internally. Have I been exposed?
No, it couldn’t be. No one could uncover my facade.
Turning with her parasol, Kristia faced the sunlight, where Xia Yushuang’s ice-blue long hair shimmered radiantly, “Junior Xia, it’s normal to call other species as not human during conversations, but saying I’m not ‘human’ is quite impolite.”
Her voice at this moment wasn’t the gentle, mature tone she used in front of Su Yuchen but the one she had as the former vice president—calm and elegant. Just through her voice, one could sense her composed and powerful aura.
However, Xia Yushuang was indifferent to it. Even though Kristia was three years her senior, so what? She was attempting to steal her junior, a line that could not be crossed.
“Isn’t what I said true?” Xia Yushuang countered, “It’s well-known that he doesn’t like women, yet he only gets shy and blushes around Senior Tia …”
“Senior Tia, you’ve concealed your identity, and he knows you’re masquerading!”
Xia Yushuang confidently rambled on… little did she know that she hit the nail on the head.
???
Upon hearing Xia Yushuang’s words, Kristia’s initial thought was that Su Yuchen had discovered she was the vampire from that night.
But… it didn’t seem likely. Was it necessary for him to go to such lengths with self-deprecating acting? Why not just threaten her directly?
Xia Yushuang looked at Kristia. She had rushed over from the classroom as soon as the class ended. Her plan was to make Kristia retreat using rumors.
The relationship between humans and other species was not harmonious. It is acceptable to say that non-humans aren’t human because well, they aren’t. But saying a human isn’t human carried derogatory implications.
Who among normal humans wanted to be insulted as “not human”?
“Senior Tia is also from the Magic Engineering Department. Don’t you know?” Xia Yushuang walked towards Kristia, stopping at the edge of her parasol. “Is it because Senior Tia, you’re not human, that this news doesn’t matter to you?”
The Magic Engineering Department? I don’t know?
The academic genius Kristia instantly grasped the point in Xia Yushuang’s words. She chuckled softly, taking out her phone while saying, “After all, I’m a graduate student now, I don’t pay much attention to undergraduate gossip.”
Soon, she found gossip threads about Su Yuchen on her phone screen.
[ A pity for this cold and handsome guy, doesn’t like human women, really extreme. ]
[ Men these days, becoming increasingly abnormal, can’t even attract women… serves him right for being single. ]
[ Do you think he prefers furry or beast ears? If he prefers furry, that’s too much. ]
[ The one above is right. If a man has been in a relationship with a furry or an insect-type creature like that, I absolutely can’t accept such a man, it’s physically uncomfortable! ]
“Quite a bit of attention.” Kristia put away her phone. “Well, after all, Junior Yuchen is quite handsome.”
‘Scared me!’
‘I thought there was some detail in the disguise that was off. Turns out it was just a scare tactic!’
‘Good thing I stayed composed, or else I would have exposed myself…’
However…
Now that she knew about this rumor, could still constantly seeking him out raise suspicion from certain observant individuals?
Even if it’s just suspicion about her not being ‘human,’ it’s still unfavorable for her objective. Who would want to be constantly monitored?
“Who’s the idiot that cooked up such a boring rumor?” Kristia snorted, turning her head towards the field gate where the military training squad was marching out.
“By the way, Junior Xia concludes that I’m not ‘human’ based on such trivial gossip?”
“Perhaps I misunderstood, but Senior Tia, you wouldn’t like being talked about behind your back as ‘not human,’ right?”
“Junior Xia, thanks for sharing this gossip with me, but I’m curious, why did you specifically come to tell me?”
Xia Yushuang also looked towards the military training squad leaving the field gate, her voice calm. “Because of me and him…”
“You and him?” Kristia turned her head, her eyes showing suspicion.
“Me and him…” Xia Yushuang saw Su Yuchen walking over after the formation was dismissed. Would he be angry if she revealed that they knew each other? Well, if he gets angry… can’t step back in matters of love.
“Me and him…”
“Senior Tia!”
Su Yuchen’s voice drowned out hers.
